The Role As a SEMH & Challenging Behaviour Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Support children who may display challenging behaviour, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, or difficulties engaging with learning.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage pupils to feel safe, supported, and motivated.
- Implement behaviour support plans and personalised intervention strategies.
- Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience, social skills, and self-confidence.
- Support classroom engagement and promote positive learning behaviours.
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, pastoral staff, and external professionals.
- Record and monitor pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing outcomes.
- Have experience working with children or young people in schools, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care, or support settings.
- Have a strong interest in SEMH, behaviour support, child development, and inclusive education.
- Are patient, resilient, empathetic, and confident managing challenging situations.
- Possess strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
