Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm | Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm
Assignment: Temporary assignment Until December 2026.

Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of Plymouth City Council for a Weighbridge Operator to join a busy waste management facility in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term temporary position through to December 2026, with the potential for extension subject to operational requirements.

As the first point of contact for site visitors, contractors and customers, you'll play a vital role in keeping operations running smoothly. Combining customer service, administration, compliance and data management, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service.


What You'll Be Doing
Providing Excellent Customer Service
  • Greeting customers and visitors arriving on site.
    • Handling enquiries both in person and over the phone.
    • Advising customers on waste acceptance procedures and site requirements.
    • Checking documentation and information to ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Delivering a professional, friendly and efficient service at all times.
Supporting Site Compliance
  • Ensuring all incoming waste meets environmental and site permit requirements.
    • Enforcing waste acceptance procedures and site regulations.
    • Verifying documentation and making informed operational decisions.
    • Assisting customers with guidance to ensure future compliance.
Data & System Administration
  • Recording vehicle, waste stream and customer account information accurately.
    • Entering and maintaining operational statistics and reports.
    • Using site systems to process payments and validate licences.
    • Maintaining accurate electronic records and documentation.
General Administration & Finance
  • Producing reports, correspondence and confidential documents.
    • Providing administrative support to the wider team.
    • Managing office supplies and maintaining stock levels.
    • Processing customer payments and cash transactions.
    • Supporting daily banking and financial administration activities.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
    • Good IT, keyboard and data entry skills
    • The ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy environment
    • Experience within administration, customer service or office-based roles
    • Confidence dealing with customers face-to-face and over the telephone
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Experience
  • Cash handling and payment processing.
    • Experience working within environmental, waste, logistics or compliance-based environments.
