The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and autism
- Help pupils access learning both inside and outside the classroom
- Implement behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation techniques
- Support the development of communication, social interaction, and independence skills
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents
- Assist with the delivery of personalised interventions and EHCP targets
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote pupil confidence and engagement
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, or support settings
- Has an interest in psychology, mental health, autism, or special educational needs
- Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and a proactive attitude
- Is confident supporting children who may present with behavioural or emotional challenges
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Holds a degree in Psychology or a related field (desirable but not essential)
- A supportive and inclusive primary school environment
