SEN Behaviour Mentor – Primary School

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping pupils overcome behavioural barriers to learning?
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated SEN Behaviour Mentor to join their team. Working through our education recruitment agency, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them develop positive behaviours, improve emotional regulation, and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, educational psychologists, youth workers, counsellors, or experienced support staff looking to make a meaningful impact in a school setting.

The Role

As an SEN Behaviour Mentor, you will:
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and behavioural needs.
    • Work closely with children who may display challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, or communication difficulties.
    • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement and emotional wellbeing.
    • Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans.
    • Support pupils in developing social skills, resilience, self-confidence, and emotional regulation.
    • Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Liaise with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
    • Monitor progress and contribute to behaviour and intervention records.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:
  • Have experience working with children or young people in schools, youth settings, mentoring programmes, sports coaching, or similar environments.
    • Have a strong interest in supporting pupils with SEND and behavioural needs.
    • Are patient, resilient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure.
    • Possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Are committed to helping pupils achieve positive outcomes.
Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, or challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential.

What the School Offers
  • A welcoming and inclusive school community.
    • Supportive leadership and experienced SEN staff.
    • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
    • A collaborative environment where staff wellbeing is valued.
    • The opportunity to make a lasting difference in children's lives.
Why Work Through Our Agency?
  • Competitive daily rates paid weekly.
    • Access to long-term, permanent, and career-development opportunities.
    • Dedicated support from an experienced education consultant.
    • Free CPD, safeguarding, and behaviour management training.
    • Opportunities to gain valuable experience within highly regarded schools across South London.
Safeguarding Statement
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, reference checks, and full compliance procedures in line with safeguarding regulations.
