The Role
As an Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support for children with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and social and emotional needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group SEN support within the EYFS setting.
- Assisting pupils to access learning through play-based activities.
- Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
- Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience working with children in an Early Years, nursery, or primary school setting.
- Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism and speech and language needs.
- A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or SEN qualifications (desirable but not essential).
