Job Description

Job Title: Warehouse Operator

Department: Warehouse / Operations

Reports To: Operations Manager

Location: Corby

Purpose of the Role

The Warehouse Operator is responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, handling, and dispatch of goods while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with company procedures. The role supports the smooth operation of the warehouse and contributes to maintaining high standards of stock control, customer service, and workplace safety, this is a temp to perm role for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and unload incoming deliveries, checking goods against delivery documentation. 

    • Accurately pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for dispatch. 

    • Use of electronic devices for the recording of operations in the company WMS

    • Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently. 

    • Store goods in designated warehouse locations in accordance with company procedures. 

    • Carry out stock checks and inventory counts as required. 

    • Maintain accurate stock records and report discrepancies to management. 

    • Operate warehouse equipment and machinery in a safe and responsible manner, where authorised. 

    • Ensure customer samples, orders, and shipments are prepared accurately and dispatched on time. 

    • Label, package, and prepare goods for transport in accordance with customer and carrier requirements. 

    • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. 

    • Follow all health and safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). 

    • Assist with goods returns, damaged stock investigations, and stock rotation activities. 

    • Support the continuous improvement of warehouse processes and efficiency. 

    • Work collaboratively with sales, production, logistics, and other departments to meet business requirements. 

    • Assist with general warehouse and operational duties as required. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous warehouse, logistics, or distribution experience desirable. 

    • Good attention to detail and accuracy. 

    • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines. 

    • Good organisational and time management skills. 

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

    • Basic numeracy and literacy skills. 

    • Understanding of warehouse health and safety requirements. 

    • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or stock control systems advantageous. 

    • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence desirable.

    • Very Narrow Aisle Truck (VNA) licence desirable

    • Flexible approach to work and willingness to support operational needs. 

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics desirable. 

    • Forklift Truck licence. 

    • Manual handling or warehouse-related training advantageous. 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Order picking and packing accuracy. 

    • On-time dispatch performance. 

    • Stock accuracy and inventory control. 

    • Compliance with health and safety procedures. 

    • Warehouse housekeeping standards. 

    • Productivity and operational efficiency. 

Working Relationships

The role will involve regular interaction with:

  • Warehouse and Operations Teams 

    • Sales and Customer Service Departments 

    • Logistics and Transport Providers 

    • Suppliers and Delivery Drivers 

General

The post holder may be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of the role, as reasonably requested by management, to meet the changing needs of the business. The role may involve manual handling, lifting, and standing for extended periods as part of normal warehouse operations.
